Some stories begin with a single moment. Ours began long before either of us realized it.Long before our first conversation, our lives were quietly crossing paths through shared friendships, familiar faces, and connections we barely noticed at the time. We shared mutual friends, knew many of the same people, and moved within circles that often overlapped. Jackie’s best friend was a longtime friend of Abel’s younger sister, and several of Abel’s lifelong friends had known Jackie for years through her congregation. Looking back now, it’s impossible not to see Jehovah’s loving hand guiding those connections. What seemed like coincidence then now feels like part of a much bigger story.Then one day, through a mutual friend, Abel got Jackie’s number.Well… nothing happened. At least not right away.For someone who had spent days trying to get her number, actually using it suddenly felt a lot more intimidating than expected. Looking back now, it’s funny because getting Jackie’s number turned out to be the easy part.Actually calling her was a different story.The mutual friend who gave Abel the number would occasionally check in and ask:“Have you called her yet?”The answer was almost always the same.“No, not yet.”And when asked why, Abel would confidently explain that he was “timing the moment.”Looking back now, it’s safe to say the moment wasn’t being timed nearly as much as it was being delayed.For someone who usually had plenty to say, Abel suddenly found himself overthinking a simple phone call. Every day seemed like a better day than today. So instead of calling, he convinced himself he was being patient, strategic, and thoughtful.In reality, he was probably just nervous.In the meantime, Abel found another way to make his presence known.If Jackie posted an Instagram story, chances are he saw it. There were enough heart emojis that subtlety was no longer part of the strategy. Looking back, it seems Abel’s plan was to make sure Jackie knew he was interested long before he worked up the courage to actually call her.Thankfully, Jackie was kind enough to entertain this approach.Eventually, the call finally happened.And what neither of us expected was how easy it felt.What was supposed to be a quick conversation turned into hours on the phone. Then more hours. Then even more hours. We talked about everything and nothing at all, our families, our goals, our faith, our experiences, and all the little things in between.Before long, those conversations became one of the brightest parts of our day. It wasn’t unusual for a phone call to stretch late into the night. And more often than not, Abel would end up falling asleep before the conversation was over.What started as a sleep accident slowly became part of our routine.As a nurse, Jackie is used to long days and even longer shifts. But on many nights, instead of hanging up, she would simply leave the call going. Sometimes she would listen to Abel breathe. Sometimes she would listen to him sleep. And according to Jackie, sometimes she would listen to him snore (an allegation that Abel still vehemently denies).Somewhere between the late-night conversations, the laughter, the comfortable silences, and the calls neither of us wanted to end, something began to change. What started as friendship became trust. And before either of us fully realized it, that trust had grown into love.As our relationship grew, everything suddenly became clear.For Abel, it was watching the way Jackie showed up, day after day. She has a remarkable ability to make other people’s burdens her own. She listened without judgment, cared without hesitation, and loved without keeping score. Somehow, she has a way of making difficult days feel lighter simply by being there.Over time, Abel realized something that he never felt the need to have all the answers. He could be vulnerable. He could be imperfect. He could simply be himself.Besides his mother, Abel had never known anyone who showed him the same patience, empathy, and compassion that Jackie did. She made him feel understood, valued, and safe in a way that was both rare and precious.And he realized that the person who consistently brought him that kind of peace was the person he wanted to spend the rest of his life with.For Jackie, what began as a friendship gradually became something she couldn’t imagine living without. Beneath Abel’s outgoing personality was a man with a deep love for Jehovah and for people. He had a unique ability to speak to someone’s heart, to make them laugh one moment and feel deeply understood the next. Whether encouraging a friend, supporting the congregation, or sharing in the ministry, his genuine concern for others was impossible to miss.More than anything, Abel made Jackie feel loved and comfortable. He created a space where she could be herself, where she felt understood, valued, and cared for. She admired his zeal for Jehovah, his love for the ministry, and the way he put spiritual things first. His zeal was contagious, his principles were unwavering, and yet he always led with empathy, kindness, and reasonableness.In him, Jackie found the kind of spiritual head she had prayed for, someone selfless, principled, loving, and loyal.What began as a simple phone call became a best friend, a trusted partner, and the person she wanted beside her for every chapter still to come.And when Abel asked for her hand in marriage, saying “yes” was one of the easiest answers she had ever given.Looking back now, our hearts are filled with gratitude for all the people and circumstances that connected our lives long before we ever imagined they would. Most of all, we’re grateful to Jehovah, whose wisdom, love, and perfect timing proved to be far better than anything we could have planned ourselves.And now, hoping to be surrounded by the people we love most, we’re excited and deeply thankful to begin the next chapter of our story together, a chapter filled with love, faith, and the joy of building a life side by side.

Their friendship began as adolescents and has grown through every stage of life since. Through the years, Johnnet has been a trusted confidante, unwavering supporter, and one of Jackie’s biggest champions.
A devoted wife and mother of two, Johnnet has been a constant source of encouragement, laughter, and friendship. As a longtime friend of Abel’s younger sister, she was also one of the many unseen connections linking our lives long before our story began. Looking back now, it’s hard not to smile at how someone so important to Jackie was part of the bigger picture all along.
We are incredibly grateful for her friendship and honored to have her standing beside Jackie as Maid of Honor.

Alex is one of Abel's best friend. He's more of a younger brother, he’s family. Through years of friendship, service to Jehovah as pioneer partners, shared struggles, and countless memories as roommates, he has been a constant source of loyalty, encouragement, and support. Though naturally quiet and reserved, Alexander has a way of making people feel at ease, and those closest to him know he always has plenty to say once the conversation gets going. He is happily married to Georgia Willie and is a treasured part of our lives.

Skylar Zoryan is a bright, sweet, and joyful young lady who holds a special place in Abel’s heart. Having known her mother since college, Abel has had the privilege of watching Skylar grow up and has loved her like a daughter for much of her life.
